Principal Brown Shares.....

I am an Onslow County girl!  I have lived here all my life and love it!  My family taught me respect, Christian values, to care for others, and to always believe in myself.  My mother instilled in me the love of learning.  As others, I have suffered many losses during my lifetime, but I have also been blessed to experience many wonderful things as well.  I am married and have a tabby cat, which was my mother's, named Shadow.  She is hilarious! She keeps me laughing all the time.  I love flowers, lighthouses and angels.  Those who know me also know I love my "BLING."  I don't feel completely dressed without my jewelry.  Each day is a new day with great experiences awaiting me!  I believe in always being happy, no matter what comes my way.  Even on the worst day, there is something to smile about!  I embrace life and make the best of each day!

 Education & Experience:

After graduating from Richlands High School, I joined the workforce in the business field.  Realizing I was not happy in this field, I decided to try my hand at substitute teaching.  For about 7 years, I enjoyed this experience.  During the last 4 years of my substituting experience, I returned to school to pursue my degree in Elementary Education.  As a result, I earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Coastal Carolina Community College and then transferred to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington where I earned a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education.  As I neared graduation, I gained employment as an interim kindergarten teacher at Silverdale Elementary.  The following year I taught 1st grade at Clyde Erwin Elementary.  After three years in 1st grade, I asked to "move up" to 4th grade.  I taught 4th grade at Clyde Erwin for a year.  Then, I was fortunate enough to transfer with my principal to Hunters Creek Elementary, which was a brand new school.  I taught 4th grade there for 2 ½ years.  During my time at Hunters Creek Elementary, I enrolled in the Masters Program at East Carolina University to pursue my Administrative Degree.  In the middle of my third year at HCE, another growth opportunity presented itself in the form of an Instructional Resource Teacher at Swansboro Elementary and Queens Creek Elementary.

Upon completion of that year, I had earned my Masters in School Administration and was ready to move forward in my professional career.  At that time, an Assistant Principal's position was not available in Onslow County.  So, I was able to gain a position at Rocky Point Primary in Pender County as an Assistant Principal.  During that time, I continued my education at East Carolina University where I completed course work to earn an advanced certificate.  After 3 years at Rocky Point Primary, there were several Principals' positions available in Onslow County.  I jumped at the opportunity to return to Onslow County.  I was fortunate to gain a position as Principal at Swansboro Elementary where I remained for 4 years.  I loved my time there!  Then, the opportunity of a lifetime presented itself-opening a brand new school as Principal.  WOW!!!  I had remembered my experience as a teacher opening a new school and now I had the opportunity to do the same thing, but in a different capacity.  Hence, how I came to be Principal at Meadow View Elementary!

While teaching and pursuing my degrees, I conducted Professional Development for Onslow County as well as the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.  I also periodically teach Effective Teaching Training through Coastal Carolina Community College.

I AM THRILLED TO BE A PART OF THE MEADOW VIEW ELEMENTARY FAMILY!!!!
